Little Things

Where has this week gone??!! I can't believe it's Friday already! I've had a lovely relaxing week off work but I'm not sure I have much to show for it. I have been out a few times: to my quilt group, on a country walk with Martin and the dogs and out with friends for lunch and shopping. In between I've been preparing for a couple of workshops I'll be teaching in March. First will be a dyeing workshop then a mini workshop at an International Quilting Day event which my friend Janet from 'A Quilters Journal is organising. I'll be teaching wax crayoning on fabric to make stitched postcards. My first sample is in the photo above. Note that it's hand stitched - I don't usually do hand stitching! It was just sketched directly onto the fabric.

I'm not really an artist and needed a bit of inspiration for some other simple pictures to colour. After lots of fruitless searching on the internet I happened to put 'doodling' into the search on Amazon and found just what I was looking for:

This is aimed at children but it's not just a colour it in book. It contains part completed pictures which you have to add doodles to yourself like this:
There are lots of similar books available too. I ordered the one above and another:
Same idea and lots of fun, simple pictures. I've copied/traced a few for my postcards. Here's one almost completed:

This one's machine stitched but I'll add a bit of embellishment by hand. Here are a few more pictures coloured and ready to stitch:

Sorry about the picture quality - I ran out of daylight. I'm really having fun with these!

Also this week I made a little bookmark to go on a friend's birthday card:
I think I may be making these on a regular basis!
