Free Motion

Well time is zooming by at the moment and I'm afraid I haven't been spending much time in the blogosphere recently. I've been suffering from a very heavy cold this past week but have managed to spend time with family and friends.

I've been busy on my sewing machine practising free motion quilting and spending time on college and Quilt University projects. In the picture above I was practising some free motion designs by Patsy Thompson and came up with my own variation by adding a little point instead of one of the curves. Ok it doesn't look much different from Patsy's but I like it! You can download lots of Patsy's designs - click here to go to the download page. Here it is on the wholecloth quilt I'm making for a college project.

I've also been practising some feathers and other filler patterns.

Progress on this project is slow but satisfying!

Yesterday afternoon I spent a lovely time at my local Bernina shop which has monthly group meetings. Sheila, the shop owner had asked if I could do a demo for the group so I went along to show them some of the free motion designs I use. They are a friendly and lively group of ladies who were very enthusiastic and welcoming. I'm going back to meet the second group tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it!

Last week was very significant for me as Thursday was my last official day in my job. It seems strange to think that part of my life is over but my brain is working overtime on my plans for the future. I've started my Etsy shop today.

Although it will take a bit of time to really get into the swing of it and get more goodies uploaded at least I've made a start with a few hand-dyed scarves for sale. I plan to add more small gifts as well as recycled and  hand-dyed fabric in the near future. Watch this space!

  2. I'm sorry to have missed your demo at the Bernina club this week. Originally, Sheila had me down to do a demo on collage, but unfortunately,I have been unwell and had to postpone it! I have been reading your blog for a while and find it very inspiring. As we both appear to be members of the CQ group of the Quilter's Guild perhaps we might run into each other before too long.
    Best wishes. Penny.
