Nearly There!

I'm ready for a break after 12 busy weeks of teaching classes and workshops and it's nearly here. This week is the end of term for me and I'll be using a 2 week holiday to recharge my batteries and catch up on some unfinished projects and class samples. I did manage to finish my Dresden Plate table mat and I'm so pleased with how it turned out. Thank you Kim (Bitty Bits n Pieces) for the original idea and instructions.

Last Saturday I had fun teaching a dyeing class but I forgot to take my camera. Luckily my students came to the rescue. Davina blogged about our day on her blog Cotton Confetti and included lots of photos. Glenwin sent me some lovely photos of her fabrics drying on the line:

It's not been all work - I have had some relaxing days out. The Saturday before last was International Quilting day and I went to Barnsley to visit my friend Janet and her group's special event. They had organised lots of lovely activities and mini workshops. There was a block lotto featuring red and white blocks:
The group members had been baking tempting treats

with another red and white block on the lovely cake - yummy!

Good thing I took my purse as the bring and buy table was loaded with goodies including cotton shirts for only £2 and there was a huge array of books, patterns and fabrics to bid for in the silent auction:

I successfully bid for a book and a pack of beautiful Moda fabric.
There was a fabulous show n tell but my camera was sulking at the time and most of the photos are a weird colour so I've just picked out a couple of my favourites:

Wow - aren't they gorgeous? All of this fun was to raise money for Barnsley Hospice and by the end of the day the grand total was £1017! Congratulations to Janet and her team. Visit Janet's blog 'A Quilters Journal' to see more.

  1. Gosh I wish I had been visiting home this weekend .... I would have been there with you! My family live in Rotherham so not far from Barnsley. Next time I arrange a trip over I will check with you to see if anything is on!!! Linda

  2. I just read your post in my google reader and saw that you had made the Dresden Plate Charger (mat) from my Moda Bake Shop tutorial. It looks great and I'm so glad you shared it and that I ran across your post. I love the bright and happy fabric you used.
