Blocks Complete

This weekend has been pretty productive! I went to Tuesday Quilters sew-in day yesterday and got a lot done in between caching up with friends. I continued today and have now completed 45 blocks for a lap quilt and matching cushion cover from a batik jelly roll. The photo doesn't do the colours justice because I had to take it with flash.  I've laid out the blocks on my sewing table so now for the difficult bit for me - deciding where each block should go!. I have a tendancy to fiddle around with the arrangement too much because I can't make a decision about what looks best. I'll just leave them there for a couple of days then I'll just have to sew them together and stop fussing!

The pattern is in Kim Brackett's book 'Scrap Basket Surprises'.

I see on Amazon that her new book Scrap Basket Sensations is out on January 11th and the pictures of the new quilts look fantastic. That's another one for the wishlist then!

I found a nice batik for a border in my stash and a lovely lilac batik-esque fabric for the backing so I haven't bought anything new. I really am going to try to use up some stash this year! I'm not making any other resolutions because I almost always fail to keep them!

  1. I love the colors in your quilt. I find taking a photo and displaying it on my computer helps me make placement decisions. It's easier for me to see if I have too many similar colors or values bunched together.
